چکیده

A12-month-old child was evaluated for pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect. Assessment of the whole arterial pulmonary arborization was first done by angiography. This examination revealed that the left lung received vascularization by the native pulmonary artery via a central shunt performed during the neonatal period and by 2 aortopulmonary collateral arteries. The positions of these 2 arteries and their spatial relationship with the left bronchus were clearly visualized before unifocalization by 3-dimensional CT.

Integrated Percutaneous Atrial Septal Defect Occlusion and Pulmonary Balloon Valvuloplasty

Introduction: Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) is one of the most common congenital heart diseases during childhood. Today, ASD closure is done by occlutech device via cardiac catheterization. ASD repair with transcatheter technique has shown high closure rate. However, coexistence of severe pulmonary stenosis and large defect in atrial septum is rare. When these two problems coexist, the result is i...

Surgical management of pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect and major aortopulmonary collaterals: a protocol-based approach.

Historically, outcomes of pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect and major aortopulmonary collaterals have been quite poor. Over the past 15 years, our group has strived to apply a consistent surgical strategy for this lesion based on two guiding principles: early unifocalization of all important collaterals; and the early establishment of a low-pressure pulmonary arterial bed, prefer...

Incidental Findings in Patients Evaluated for Pulmonary Embolism Using Computed Tomography Angiography

Introduction: Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a common lethal disease that its clinical symptoms may be seen in many other diseases. Computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) is a valuable diagnostic modality for detection of PE. In addition, it can accurately detect the other diseases with clinical symptoms similar to PE. The aim of this study is to evaluate the frequency of PE and nonemboli...

OBJECTIVE To compare multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) with cardiac catheterization and transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) in comprehensive evaluation of the global cardiovascular anatomy in patients with pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect (PA-VSD). METHODS The clinical and imaging data of 116 patients with PA-VSD confirmed by surgery were reviewed. Using findings at s...
